Three-Stage Renovation and Extension Project
This extensive renovation project was completed over three carefully planned stages, transforming a traditional family home into a spacious, modern property with character and comfort throughout.
Stage 1: Loft Conversion & Rear Dormer Extension
We began by demolishing the existing garage and securing permitted development approval for a full-width rear dormer. The resulting loft space includes a large master bedroom, a generous limestone-tiled bathroom with American walnut cabinetry, and a spacious landing area that comfortably fits a home office. The bespoke staircase was crafted to match the original, making the loft feel like an integral part of the house rather than a later addition.
Stage 2: Side Kitchen Extension & New Garage
The second phase included the construction of a large side extension and a new garage. While the structure was completed promptly, it remained disconnected from the main house for almost a year, waiting for the final design elements to align with the family’s evolving needs.
Stage 3: Structural Alterations, Kitchen Fit-Out & Interior Renovation
In the final stage, we removed internal walls to connect the new extension to the main house, creating an open-plan family space of approximately 50m². We completed the full kitchen installation, decorated the entire property, and ensured seamless integration of old and new spaces.
Throughout the project, the clients lived in the house. During the final stage, they welcomed their newborn daughter. We took extra care to manage logistics, minimise disruption, and maintain a calm and respectful work environment — adapting our schedule and workflow as needed.
The Result:
A beautifully upgraded home with a large open-plan living area, elegant joinery, and a thoughtfully designed loft space. Despite the complexity, this project stands out as one of our most rewarding — a true reflection of teamwork, precision, and care.
